Composition

1 g contains: Doxycycline hyclate, 500 mg.

Indications

Treatment of the following infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to doxycycline: Colibacillosis. Mycoplasmosis and chronic respiratory disease (CRD).

Contraindications

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to tetracyclines. Do not use in animals with hepatic damage.  

Adverse reactions

Digestive alterations by intestinal dysbiosis may appear in very long-term treatments. Allergic reactions and photosensitivity may appear, as for all tetracyclines.

If you notice any serious effects or other effects not mentioned in this package leaflet, please inform your veterinary surgeon.

Target species

Poultry (broilers and turkeys).

Dosage for each species, routes and method of administration

Oral route in drinking water.

Provided the dosage form and that the water consumption depends on the clinical conditions of the animal, for an adequate dosage, concentration of the antimicrobial agent will be adjusted taking into consideration the daily water consumption. 50-100 mg of doxycycline/L of water/day (equivalent to 0.1-0.2 g of DOXICICLINA 500 GANADEXIL/L/day), for 3-5 days.

Medicated water must be the only source of drinking. Renew medicated water every 24 hours. The solubility of the veterinary medicinal product is pH dependent and may precipitate when mixed in hard alkaline water to drink. 

Withdrawal period

Meat: 7 days. Not authorised for use in birds producing eggs for human consumption.

Special precautions

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions. Do not use the veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date which is stated on the label. 

Special warnings

Special warnings for each target species: Do not administer in layers producing eggs for human consumption.

Special precautions for use in animals: In the presence of any infectious process, a bacteriologic confimation of the diagnostic is recommended and the performance of a sensitivity test of the bacteria causing the process. Administration in rusty feeders and/or drinkers should be avoided.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: Avoid handling the product if hypersensitivity to tretracyclines exists. Care should be taken to avoid contact with the product during its incorporation to the water, take specific precautions: Adequate measures should be taken to avoid powder dissemination durting the incorporation fo the product to the water. It is recommended to use a non-powder mask ( according to the EN140FFP1 regulation), gloves, working suit and approved safety glasses.- Avoid skin and eye contact. If it occurs, it is recommended to wash the area with plenty of water. Do not smoke, eat or drink while handling the product. If symptoms appear after exposition, as a skin eruption , a doctor should be consulted showing these warnings. Inflammation of the face, lips and eyes or respiratory difficulty are more severe signs that require urgent medical attention.

Pregnancy and lactation: Do not use in birds in lay and within 4 weeks before the onset of the laying period.

Interactions: Adsorption of doxycycline may be diminished in the presence of high quantities of Ca, Fe, Mg or Al into the diet. Do not administer together with antacids, kaolin and iron preparations.

Incompatibiities: in the absence of compatibility studies, this veterinary medicinal product must not be mixed with other veterinary medicinal products.

Disposal

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your veterinary surgeon how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures should help to protect the environment.
