INVEMOX 15% L.A.

 

Composition: Each ml suspension contains: Amoxicillin (trihydrate): 150 mg; excipient q.s 1 ml

Dosage form: Long-acting injectable suspension

Properties: Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum bactericidal antibiotic belonging to the β-lactamic group. It is semisynthetic penicillin susceptible to the action of penicillinases. It prevents the bacterial cell wall synthesis by inhibition of transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase enzymes, causing an osmotic imbalance that destroys bacteria during the growing phase. It is active against:

- Gram positive bacteria: Actinomyces spp., Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp., Streptoccocus spp.

- Gram negative bacteria: Actinobacillus spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, E. coli, Fusobacterium spp., Haemophilus spp., Moraxella spp., Pasteurella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Salmonella spp.

In addition to Leptospira spp.

Target species: Cattle, sheep, swine, dogs and cats

Indications: It is indicated in case of infections caused by susceptible germs to amoxicillin of the digestive tract, respiratory tract, urogenital tract, skin and soft tissues, as well as in diseases complicated by bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin.

Dosage:

Administer 1 ml of INVEMOX 15% L.A. per 10 kg b.w. (equivalent to 15 mg of amoxicillin per kg of b.w).

If recovery does not occur in 48 hours, treatment should be reconsidered.

INTRAMUSCULAR or SUBCUTANEOUS ROUTE

Contraindications: Do not administer in rabbits, guinea-pigs and hamsters. Do not administer in animals with a history of allergies to β-lactamics.

Side effects: Sensitivity reactions whose severity may range from a simple urticaria to an anaphylactic shock. Local reaction on the injection site. Gastrointestinal disorders, specially in herbivorous. Supra-infections caused by non sensitive germs after long-term treatment. Occasionally blood disorders and colitis may be produced.

Special precautions for use: Adjust dose in animals with renal impairment. Shake well before using. Use dry an sterile syringes. Apply a gentle massage on the injection site. Do not administer by intravenous route. If dose is higher to 20 ml, it is recommended to divide the dose between several injection sites.

Interactions: Do not administer together with bacteriostatic agents (tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, sulfamides …).

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes): Amoxicillin has a wide safety margin. In case of severe allergic reactions, treatment should be discontinued and corticoids and adrenaline should be administered. In the rest of cases, symptomatic treatment should be administered.

Withdrawal period: Meat: 14 days; milk: 48 hours (4 milkings)

Storage conditions: Keep at a temperature between 5 and 250C.

Presentations: Vials of 10, 50, 100, 250 and 500 ml.

Shelf-life: 3 years from the manufacturing date.
