ESPACOX 5%
Prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in piglets, calves and lambs
Composition: Toltrazuril: 50mg.
Pharmaceutical form: Oral suspension
Target species: Piglets, calves (dairy farms) and lambs.
Indications for use, specifying the target species:
Piglets: Prevention of clinical signs and treatment of coccidiosis in neonatal piglets on farms with a confirmed history of coccidiosis caused by Isospora suis.
Calves: Prevention of clinical signs and treatment of coccidiosis and reduction of coccidia shedding in housed calves replacing cows producing milk for human consumption (dairy cows) on farms with a confirmed history of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis or Eimeria zuernii.
Lambs: Prevention of clinical signs and treatment of coccidiosis and reduction of coccidia shedding in lambs on farms with a confirmed history of coccidiosis caused by Eimeria carandallis and Eimeria ovinoidalis.
Amount to be administered and administration route:
Piglets: Individual treatment. Each pig to be treated on day 3 – 5 of life with a single dose of 0.4 ml of Espacox 5% (equivalent to 20 mg toltrazuril)/kg body weight.
Treatment during an outbreak will be of limited value for the individual piglet because of damage to the small intestine having already occured.
Calves: Each animal should be treated with a single oral dose of 0.3 ml of Espacox 5% (equivalent to 15 mg Toltrazuril)/kg body weight corresponding.
For the treatment of a group of animals of the same breed and same or similar age, the dosing should be done according to the heaviest animal of this group.
To obtain maximum benefit, animals should be treated before the expected onset of clinical signs, i.e. in the prepatent period.
Lambs: Each animal should be treated with a single oral dose of 0.4 ml of Espacox 5% (equivalent to 20 mg Toltrazuril)/kg body weight.

If animals are to be treated collectively rather tan individual, they should be grouped according to their body weight and dosed accordingly, in order to avoid under- oro ver-dosing.
Espacox 5% is used for prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in every period with a single dose.
Shake well before using. The product is injected directly to the mouth.
Contraindications: Do not use in calves weighing more than 80 kg body weight. Do not use in fattening units such as veal or beef calves.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes): A threefold overdose is well tolerated by healthy piglets and calves without signs of ontolerance. No signs of overdose have been observed in lamb safety studies with threefold overdose at a single treatment and twofold overdose treatment on 2 consecutive days.
Adverse reactions (frequency and seriousness): None known
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interation: None known.
Withdrawal period:
Piglets: Meat and offal: 77 days.
Calves: Meat and offal: 63 days. Not permitted for use in lactating animals producing milk for human consumption.
Lambs: Meat and offal: 42 days. Not permitted for use in lactating sheep producing milk for human consumption.
Additional information:
Espacox 5% is used for prevention and treatment of coccidiosis and deduction of secondary intestinal infection in piglets and calves.
Coccidiosis caused by Isospora suis (piglets), Eimeria bovis, Eimeria zuernii or Eimeria alabamensis (calves) is the main cause of diarrhea, dehydration, anorexia, lose weight, occasionally causing death in pigs, goats, lambs, calves.
Espacox 5% is used for prevention and treatment of coccidiosis in every period with a single dose.
Presentations: Bottles of 100, 250, 500 ml; 1L, 5L
Storage conditions: This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Shelf-life: 2 years from the manufacturing date; 3 months from the first opening.
