DOXYPREX
Doxycycline hyclate (INN)
Composition: Doxycyclin (hyclate) 100 g, excipient q.s 1 kg
Pharmaceutical form: Premix for medicated feeding stuff
Pharmacodynamic properties: Doxycycline is a bacteriostatic antibacterial agent that acts by interfering on the bacterial protein synthesis of the sensitive species. Doxycycline is a semi-synthetic tetracycline derived from oxytetracycline that acts on the 30S ribosome bacterial subunit in a reversible union, by blocking the binding of aminoacyl-tRNA (transference RNA) to the mRNA/ribosome complex, avoiding the addition of new amino acids to the growing peptide chain and interfering therefore on the protein synthesis. It is active against: Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Bordetella bronchiseptica…
Advantages: Doxyprex is produced by BMP (Bi Modal Protection) molecular protection with the following effects:
Target species: Swine and poultry
Indications for use: Treatment and prevention of Porcine Respiratory Complex caused by: Pasteurella multocida, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.
Posology and method of administration:
Provided the administration form and that the feed consumption depends on the clinical condition of the animal, in order to obtain a correct dosage, the concentration of the antimicrobial agent should be adjusted taking into account the daily feed intake.
The recommended dose is 250 mg of doxycycline per kg of feed )equivalent to 2.5 kg Doxyprex/ton of feed) constituting this medicated feed the only ration during 7 consecutive days.
Before granulation, flour should not reach a temperature higher than 550C.
ORAL ROUTE IN FEED
Undesirable effects (frequency and seriousness): Allergic reactions and photosensitivity may appears, as for all tetracyclines. Digestive alterations by intestinal dysbiosis may appear in very long-term treatments.
Interaction with other medicaments and other forms of interaction: Absorption of doxycycline may be diminished with the presence of high quantities of calcium, iron, magnesium or aluminium in the diet. Do not administer together with antacids, kaolin and iron preparations.
Special precautions for use: In the presence of any infectious process it is recommended the bacteriological confirmation of the diagnostic and the performance of a sensitivity test of the bacteria responsible for the process. Administration in oxidized places should be avoided.
Withdrawal periods: Meat: 7 days
Storage conditions: Store below 300C.
Shelf-life: 3 years from the manufacturing date; 3 months from the first opening and medicated premix.
Presentations: Containers of 1 kg, 5 kg, 20 kg and 25 kg.
